Greater Mount Zion

Greater Mount Zion-2

This is the first “real” post in the blog, though it happened quite a while ago. I’m also seeing what things with two images look like–but I’ll try to keep a post-a-day, current or otherwise.

Saturday night, I decided to go to a black church in East Austin early the next morning. I showed up too early and went to a different one then I originally planned on–there were four on that block alone. Asking the usher if it was okay to circulate and photograph, I was half-asked and half-pushed into a wooden riser where I gave in and attended service proper.

There was singing, there was dancing. There was a preacher who had two members of his family murdered: his mother by the man she was having an affair with, and his sister by his pastor’s daughter. I’m so happy, he sang. I’m so happy.

EDIT: Oops, this post somehow crashed the site. Working on it..
