SET: RG4N Meeting, The Morning After

We May Have Lost But We Weren't Wrong

Responsible Growth for Northcross is a local citizen’s group that has been steadfastly opposing the construction of a new Austin Wal-Mart for well over a year. They also go by the catchy acronym “RG4N,” which is bery difficult not to pronounce as “Regan, Ronald.”

On December 21st, they lost their legal case, which lynchpinned on the argument that Wal-Mart’s hadn’t properly applied for an outdoor garden center permit from the city. Good sense might dictate they give up the fight now, but obstinate character and political inertia will keep them moving.. though I think that even they are not sure to where they will go.

I didn’t ask the editor to run the lead image on this post, since it’s text dependent and could be interpreted as sour grapes, but I think it illustrates the feeling of the meeting well.

Here’s the DT article if you want to read more. This was a couple of weeks ago, but I’m trying to catch up the blog to the present day. A big backblog, if you will.
